Tonight at my high school, six of my peers put on an amazing one act rendition of Alice in Wonderland. Plays and musicals are so entertaining to watch! I always love going to them. Now I know this blog is suppose to be about books but seeing the play has made me really want to go and read the original book by Lewis Carroll. The play included a lot of interesting concepts about time and life. Many ideas touched on during the play were new and intriguing to me. For example, the White Queen talks about how see needs a band-aid. Alice asks her why and the queen replies that her finger is bleeding. Upon expecting the queen's finger Alice sees no blood. She tells the queen and the queen replies that is not bleeding now but it will in the future. It brings up a new interpretation of time that I never thought of. To me, it seemed to be talking about living in the present and not have the things that MIGHT happen hold you back. Or at least that is what I got out of that little dialogue, I might be reading to much into it. But that is why I want to read the book! If I can get that much out of a few minutes of a play what can I get out of a whole book? Seeing the play made me interested in discovering what the original book is like. Moral of the post, Alice in Wonderland has been added to my "Books to Read" list. :)
